ROMAN ABRAMOVICH SNUBS CHELSEA AFTER CRASH OUT

ABOVE: Abramovich wasn't keen to talk to the player after they lost
18th March 2010

By David Woods

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH gave his Chelsea flops the silent treatment after they crashed out of the Champions League,

And the angry Russian looks set to order a clear-out of the c;ub's ageing squad this summer.

Chelsea star Florent Malouda revealed Abramovich, who walked across the pitch alone to the dressing- room following the 1-0 defeat on Tuesday, had been very down.

“He didn’t speak,” said the Frenchman. “Everyone was quiet in the dressing room because we were really disappointed.”

A source also revealed the tycoon had been the most nervous he had seen him at a match, prior to kick-off.

He knew the encounter was a perfect opportunity for Mourinho to prove Abramovich was wrong to sack him in September 2007 – which he did in style. It now seems likely Abramovich will order Carlo Ancelotti to trim his ageing squad this summer.

Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Nicolas Anelka all are under threat with the trio yet to agree new contract offers which are not as lucrative as they had hoped.

Ricardo Carvalho, 32, Paulo Ferreira, 31, and Deco, 32, also look in danger of being sold.

Starsport can reveal the tycoon will not contemplate asking old boss Jose Mourinho to return.

Bookies offered 10-1 on Mourinho being invited back after he masterminded Inter Milan’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday.
