The only surprising aspect of this otherwise by-numbers rom-com is how lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones (left) looks playing a 40-year-old mother-of-two.
TOO often you can’t trust movies garlanded with awards, but not this happy, warm-hearted comedy – it definitely deserves its Tribeca Festival win.
JACKIE Chan was born to play the role of the jaded, super-tough kung fu master Mr Han in this 1980s remake.

THE BOUNTY HUNTER (12A): GERRY AND JEN COP IT

ABOVE: Aniston and Butler make bed seem bad
19th March 2010

By Alan Frank

FAMED magazine cover star Jennifer Aniston still looks great at 41.

And she uses her lovely figure whenever possible to make up for her insipid acting in a defiantly awful romcom whose end credits arrived far too late to save the movie.

She plays the ex-wife of cop-turned bounty hunter Gerard Butler.

Butler’s vengeful dreams come true when he is assigned to hunt down reporter Jen when she jumps bail.

He does, and what follows is painfully predictable. A lively enough car chase briefly diluted my growing tedium. But the two stars have virtually no chemistry. So inevitably they fail to overcome a dim script riddled with clichés and corny characters and the plodding direction.

Atlantic City and its gaudy casinos are the most convincing element on offer.

But an unsettling and out-of-place torture scene is one more downer ruining an already downbeat show, so when Butler stated: “I’m not buying it”, I agreed completely.

VERDICT: 4/10
